Riding Boots
« on: February 21, 2014, 03:28:21 PM »
What do you guys have? Are they waterproof, have they been rain tested?

I'm looking for something, not quite sure what yet. I want something with some decent ankle support, not some flimsy strictly road boot but not a full on motocross type boot you can barely walk in. I'm almost thinking Gore-Tex is a MUST if I want to stay dry. Other "waterproof" boots that don't have Gore-Tex still seem to seep water in according to reviews.

I have a few pair I alternate, one is a Sidi that is waterproof,. but not really great for walking,  Diehard that is comfortable and seems to support well, but leaks like a sieve, and Sketchers workboots that are comfortable biking and walking, but I have not used in the rain yet.

My wife gave me a new pair for Christmas that are waterproof. Tourmaster. Same style as my others just waterproof. While I have worn them around the house to break in, I've noticed that they seem a bit warmer and I'm thinking that's a result of them being fully waterproof. She got them through competition accessories. I want to,say they were around 120.

Do you know which pair Gerry? I'm looking at a pair of those right now. The Web Gore-Tex.

I tried on a few riding boots and apparently I have a "small" heal so most don't fit me correctly not to mention the thickness bugs me for walking, etc. so I just wear sneakers (yeah yeah I know!) and some covers in the rain! Ironically my jeans and shirt get more wet in a down pour! ;)

Sneakers!?! No thanks, I don't need a broken ankle.

I found some Alpine Star Gore-Tex boots on closeout from Revzilla.

bet they're the same ones I got last summer.

First pair i bought in 2004 and they lasted until last summer.

Just use them for winter riding as they are pretty streched out so I can wear heavy socks to keep my feets warm.

My current boots:
